Awareness of our corporate social responsibility runs through everything we do. We work hard to minimise our impact on the environment and to contribute to the communities in which we operate.
Protecting the environment is a major priority for us. We operate a ‘zero to landfill’ policy so all the equipment we process is disposed of by resale and reuse or, where this is not possible, by breaking the equipment down into its constituent parts for recycling. (All data is securely wiped beforehand, whatever the disposal technique.)
In this way, we protect the environment and ensure that we and our customers comply with all environmental legislation, including the WEEE directive.
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive became European Law in February 2003. The Directive states that all redundant computer equipment is classed as E-waste. It also stipulates that CRT monitors are classed as hazardous waste. It is against the law to export E-Waste and/or hazardous waste. Illegal exporters of E-waste not only undermine law-abiding recycling businesses but they also risk harm to the environment and human health.
The Environmental Protection Act 1990 imposes a waste Duty of Care on all producers of waste, requiring them to handle their waste safely and within the law; this applies to anyone who produces waste from business or industry.
In accordance with this, IT Efficient Ltd is BS:14001 accredited, licensed and inspected by the Environment Agency to ensure correct practice.
Our secure recycling facility is manned by certified Waste Management Industry Training & Advisory Board (WAMITAB) operatives. E-waste is dismantled and segregated by material types, then further processed into a granulated raw material state.
By choosing IT Efficient for your E-waste requirements you can be assured that you are fulfilling your duty of care in line with WEEE regulations; we do all the legal work for you.
Our Environment Agency numbers are as follows:

- Waste Management Site Code: EPR//BP3992LP
